A vigilant opposition

THOUGH in no way party political, I was delighted to see Fianna Fáil getting the kicking they so richly deserved in the last election.

That said I was acutely aware of the danger that they would cross to the opposition benches and keep their heads down thus depriving us of one of the fundamentals of parliamentary democracy, a sharp and vigilant opposition. I am heartened to see that they, particularly their finance spokesman Michael McGrath, have no intention of letting this happen.
