Time to leave the EU

A VERY astute acquaintance responded to the “Noonan scare tactic” assertion regarding a referendum vote being a vote to stay in the EU, or not, as follows: “I think he is firing across the bow of the EU powers.”

In other words, he is warning Merkozy that Ireland might withdraw from the EU if we are not treated properly.

I think we should withdraw.

Going back to the punt will allow the currency to be devalued.

We could then support education and the HSE, avoid property rates and water bills (as required by EU law).

Instead, we are giving billions to bondholders as ordered to do by our European masters.
