Our political elite escaping cuts and pain

OVER three years after this country was plunged into recession by the incompetence and greed of bankers, developers and senior civil servants, and facilitated by reckless politicians, the knife is out.

It is being applied with abandon to all sectors of society, both the public and private sectors.

There have been cuts in the numbers of gardaí, nurses, teachers, special needs assistants, etc, and also record jobs losses in the private sector.
