Troubled by many forms of violence
The history of Ireland will be forever scarred with the deaths of 3,466 people who lost their lives in what was the tragedy of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Their memory can never be forgotten — and it will not.
There is however a present tragedy happening right now, one which is unseen, unspectacular and for many today in a position to influence, unimportant.
Last year there were 800 suicides, a Health Service falling apart at the seams with people dying on trolleys, and families reduced to charity for basic survival.
What is the common thread in all of this, I will let you answer this for yourself.
The scale of destruction happening in this country today will make the previous troubles pale into insignificance until the present establishment take a look in the mirror and ask themselves what role they have played, are playing and intend to play in the future.
I have never been a supporter of violence, but I believe that violence takes many forms and it is time for everyone to see that in the present perspective.
