Fianna Fáil destroyed our sovereignty

IN your editorial (August 25) you state “IF Fianna Fáil fields no presidential candidate, the democratic process will be weakened.” Are you serious?

FF is the party that spawned miscreants such as Haughey, Burke, Lawlor, Ahern, McCreevey, Cowen and so on, ad infinitum. These and their ilk, like intoxicated joyriders, not only weakened democracy but destroyed and demeaned it through corruption, cronyism and finally through downright incompetence.

Let us not ever forget, they destroyed our sovereignty and self-esteem and wrecked the lives and livelihoods of so many of our people. The emigrant ship is their legacy. Micheál Martin’s pathetic efforts at leadership should be no surprise as he was also one of the delinquent incompetent joyriders for many years.
