Against the odds

THE purpose of elections is to give people the opportunity to express an opinion.

Fianna Fáil is unlikely to put forward a candidate for presidential election, which is disappointing.

I was looking forward to hearing more about the brave Brian Crowley who was, until recently, willing to give it his all.

Now, that’s leadership — a man fighting against the odds is more inspirational than one telling us we haven’t a hope.

Our history is full of heroes battling, and often losing, against terrible odds. It’s what makes us who we are.
