Public pay packets too big

IN response to “Mapping out power and responsibility” (Letters, August 9) I, too, can see Ireland on the international map and its size in relation to Germany, France, and the USA.

But the size of the wage packets in the public sector at the top confuses me. We seem to be way larger in that regard to those countries — can a politician write in and explain that one to the people in the private sector?

The very ones paying your over-inflated wages and pension for a short term served in public life.
