Reek record climb amazing feat

CONGRATULATIONS to the participants in The Reek 24 Hour Challenge. Witnessing this world record climb, all I have to say is, it was absolutely amazing.

They ascended and descended Croagh Patrick 12 times in less than 24 hours, the previous record was nine.

They broke the Guinness world record for the amount of metres ascended and descended within 24 hours and they climbed more metres than Mount Everest is high.

I know a few of the climbers and the truth being told, I thought there was no way they could achieve their goals, not because I thought they weren’t capable, I actually thought it was not humanly possible.

I was wrong. I guess that’s what records are about, doing the unbelievable.

I’m glad they reached their goals and in doing so, The Irish Red Cross and Mayo Mountain Rescue Association will benefit.
