Good news makes a welcome change

IRELAND seems to be getting a bit of well deserved good news for a change with the very successful visit of the Queen Elizabeth II and President Barack Obama.

Good news makes a welcome change

Mr Obama is usually referred to as being the first black president of America. How is this possible when his mother was white? I am white Irish married to a black Zimbabwean woman (44 years) and if we had children (which we haven’t) they would be called Euro-Africans.

On Zimbabwean as well as Zambian and Malawian immigration forms, Euro-African is an acceptable answer. I have a friend who originally comes from Malawi by the name of Patrick Umali.
