Banks got debt write-off

I NOTE the simplistic tenor to Richard Bruton’s argument that “you cannot be writing off one person’s debt and expecting another person to pay their debt”.

Could I remind Mr Bruton that the bank guarantee went further than that. Brian Lenihan wrote off debt, not owed by the citizens of this country, and assumed liability on our behalf and on behalf of people not yet born.
