Supporting tourism - Potential we must realise

THE scheme launched by Cork City Council to add €120 million to the €317m generated by tourism in the city is just one of many vital initiatives across the country to create jobs and generate income.

Supporting tourism - Potential we must realise

Like many cities and regions in Ireland Cork and its hinterland have more than enough natural attractions to make it a rewarding destination for tourists. The services — food, accommodation, infrastructure, transport, entertainment and the welcome received — that augment those attractions are what makes the difference between a good holiday experience and a poor one.

All of this is in our control and despite great improvements there is much more we can do to make the region more attractive. The rewards in jobs and income could be so great we would be fools not to.
