We have too many local authorities

LOOKING at the size of this country, what are we doing with so many local authorities?

Why can’t we have regional authorities, like a Munster council and so on? We live in a small country — how many managers and councillors would that reduce to just having a Munster manager/mayor and a couple of councillors per county?

Just think how much money it would save, with all the offices sold off and only needing the amount necessary to run one regional council instead of almost 20 per county.
