I READ with interest the Government’s proposals to heap yet more misery on the beleagured Irish motorist.

For most of us, cars are not a luxury

Petrol prices, motor tax and road tolls are quickly turning Ireland into one of the most anti-car countries in Europe, largely because of the disastrous CO2-based motor tax scheme introduced by the Green Party.

Not only is this heaping more misery on the Irish taxpayer — the vast majority of whom cannot afford to purchase cars made in 2008 or later and thus benefit from the Green’s big mistake — but it is also damaging the already dim prospects of enticing tourists to the country in the future.
