We’re lurching from one disaster to another

THE contempt shown by someone, allegedly someone in uniform, in the service of the state, while in discourse of their duties a few days ago at the Shell to Sea protests should be seen as yet another example of the contempt and regard the people of this lovely island are held in by those in power.

We’re lurching from one disaster to another

Our gardaí laughing at raping a female protester who has travelled to Mayo to make a stand against a giant oil company’s rape of a natural resource, our government’s nefarious decisions made over the last few years, raping our communities of a future where health services and education buckle under massive debt caused by corruptive ideals, our children getting dumber and our elders dying in waiting rooms, builders, aided by planning committees and raping the landscape for more and more space to build ghost housing estates are just some of the horror stories we’ve had to deal with.

Has the feeling of utter contempt become so ingrained in the national psyche that we are just lurching now from one collective disgrace/disaster to another?
