Future of Seanad

IN relation to senators fighting to keep the retirement home/preschool known as the Seanad — it’s a disgrace.

The people don’t get to vote the senators in or out. The people will decide if they want to retain it or not, and not the senators. As for the Dáil, there should be a referendum on the same day as the Seanad referendum, asking how many TDs they wish to have reduced in the Dáil. One for every 25,000 compared to one for every 95,000 in England is not on.

All senators and TDs should remember — they serve the people, and not the other way around.
