Retain and reform

BY abolishing the Seanad, more power and decision-making will be foisted into fewer hands.

This would be a retrogressive step, and certainly, not good for democracy.

A monopoly is undesirable in any situation — especially in the governance of our sovereign nation.

History has shown that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

For this reason, Ireland must retain and reform our present bicameral legislature system.
