Knock the banks, not the credit unions

HAVING read Bill Hobbs’ money articles on the credit union movement that he has written in the past few years, I am very annoyed as he is constantly trying to find fault and knock this outstanding movement.

Without credit unions there would be thousands and thousands of people in financial ruin.

It’s not the credit unions that he should be knocking and constantly picking on, it’s the banks that have brought the country to its knees, only by giving billions in bailouts and bankrupting this great country for generations to come.

Where are the banks when small businesses are looking for help in keeping them from closing their doors, or parents are trying to feed and clothe their children? It’s the credit unions that save these people.

The credit union movement have never received any sort of bailout.

Here are some facts about the credit unions:

* They provide up to €1,900 to each member on death.

* They double your savings up to €20,000 on death.

* They write off your loan on death. All the above without any cost to the member. What do the banks provide? Nothing without a cost.
