The threat posed to children — and naive adults too — by the misuse of social media and electronic communications has been well documented.

Yesterday’s court rulings against mobile phone companies who persistently contacted their customers to try to sell services, despite being requested not to do so, is a victory for consumers and their privacy. These intrusions are almost as bad as the daily deluge of junk email offering everything from fool-proof property investments to secret potions that guarantee to turn octogenarians into sexual athletes.
