A little understanding

ANGELA MERKEL has dismissed any suggestion of Ireland easing its EMU/IMF debt burden while at the same time, she is supporting measures that will further shrink our economy.

The EU wishes to change our corporation tax with the result that our few remaining good jobs will be lost to other countries, just as our educated young people are leaving. It does not take an economist to figure out that if you pile on the debt on one side, while destroying the ability to repay on the other, the whole charade will end in tears for both borrower and lender. Ms Merkel might do well to remember the Marshall Plan and the positive effects that a little understanding can have on the fortunes of a country and its people.
