Don’t buy into the Fine Gael hype

IT seems to me that people can have conveniently short memories when they want to assign the roles of scapegoat and hero.

Although Enda Kenny and Fine Gael campaigned in 2007 by promising more expenditure and reducing income tax, the entire blame for the crisis and recession is assigned to Fianna Fáil by Fine Gael and echoed unchallenged by journalists.

Fine Gael have fought this election on this false premise and it seems that we, the people, are only too happy to buy into this.

We are aided and abetted by journalists none of whom will dare speak the truth now for fear they will be labelled “Fianna Fáil”.

So much for the truth.

Make no mistake, this election is not about economics, it is about spin.

Journalists asked by their grandchildren what they did during the economic crisis in 2011 may reply that they jumped on the Fine Gael bandwagon without first checking the facts.

Perhaps voters are too young to remember previous Fine Gael governments.

Enda Kenny as speaking the truth when he said we will all suffer.

At least with Fianna Fáil we were told the details of the Finance Bill, but now we are voting for a pig in a poke.

No details, just a licence to inflict pain and blame Fianna Fáil.
