Emergency and health workers need our help

LISTENING to the Pat Kenny show yesterday morning, my heart went out to those involved in the Cork Airport crash and to their families.

There was also a well-voiced appreciation of those who work in emergency and health services.

Also on the programme there was discussion about the health service and new proposals for reform. However, there is anecdotal evidence that regardless of the vision by the politicians, efficiency is blocked through vested interest among some of the higher paid. These people should be named and shamed.

If the real problem is personal greed among the higher paid professionals in the health service, then they are quite similar to the bankers who lined their pockets while fully aware of the hardship they would cause others who are far more vulnerable than consultants and others in privileged positions.

These people should be exposed, medical consultancy is not a birthright.
