IS it too cynical to wonder how many papers have been “lost” during the time Fianna Fáil have been in government, and how many papers, about events which took place during the Ahern and Cowen governments, which both make the cronyism of the Haughey governments look like child’s play, are also currently being shredded to avoid leaving traces for historians in 30 years, or for when the new government takes over in 2011?

If Mr Noonan becomes Minister for Finance, will he be able to explain why exactly the decision to transfer the debts of Anglo and NIB was made, or have any records of those meetings been shredded by now?
