IT now appears our failure to legislate in areas other than financial is becoming more and more apparent.

Home care, adoption, fertility treatments, stem cell research, and mental healthcare are just the ones presently in the media. No doubt now the European Court ruling on the abortion/cancer case will yet again have all the fundamentalist lobbies out screaming at the normal everyday folk who are already struggling with the consequences of bad government. If only the Government had done it job over the last few decades.

And well done on closing the Irish Council of Bioethics on December 1, that will really help a lot. Especially when the civil servants are still on the Government payroll - just redeployed. It’s absolute madness. It pays to look at the advice the council gave the Government during its tenure: www.bioethics.ie
