Culprits and victims

I FIND your editorial statement that “we have mismanaged our affairs to such a degree that we have squandered our sovereignty” hard to take (Editorial, October 25).

Culprits and victims

“We” did not mismanage our affairs. A small number of people at the top in government, banks, etc, mismanaged our affairs. They are still mismanaging them and have not been held to account. They are being given the run of the media to lecture the rest of us on how we should pay for their mistakes.

We have had a virtual one-party state for years, with too many of the media inside the Government tent. The result was that no one told us what was happening behind closed doors until the country was on the verge of bankruptcy.

“We” are the victims. Having to listen to lectures from those who undermined our sovereignty while being saddled with the blame for what happened is unacceptable.
