Tobacco limits

JOHN Mallon’s advice (Letters, May 6) on importing tobacco from other EU countries may be ill-advised.

Tobacco limits

Imports of duty-paid tobacco from other EU countries are subject to a restriction that they are for personal use, and customs officers are entitled to presume that a quantity of more than 800 cigarettes (or 1kg of tobacco) is not for personal use and seize it unless you can prove otherwise.

Buyer beware, as always.
