IT never ceases to amaze me when government spokespeople drone on about supporting jobs initiatives.

If you lose your job and are lucky to receive a redundancy payout, be wary of investing in a self-employment project. If your enterprise fails you will not be entitled to any support from the state. It doesn’t matter if you have paid PRSI for 20 years – it counts for nothing.

I would suggest the removal of this anomaly might help people who have ideas for business. It is grossly unfair on people who strive not to be a burden on the state to be penalised like this.
