Leak source queries are not beneath contempt
That’s that.
But most people I talked to entertained the possibility it could have come from someone in the Department of Justice.
Also its timing could just be a coincidence and the leak could be from another source. But did the Taoiseach stand up and say: “Fair question. I see where you are coming from. No. The letter was not leaked from the Department of Justice.” No, he did not. Instead Mr Cowen addressed all of us around the country who have open minds and functioning brains and told us we were “beneath contempt” to ask such a legitimate question. If he believes what he says anymore, then he should explain to us on what basis, given Fianna Fáil’s record, we were supposed automatically to rule out such an option? I am not “beneath contempt”, a Thaoisigh.
