Brainwashed for life

I CONCUR with every word written by Paddy Phelan in his letter headlined ‘Now we know the price of church brainwashing’ (December 28).

He says children are brainwashed from the age of four, but I believe they are brainwashed from “womb to tomb”, going through a lifetime beginning with “original” sin of which every child was guilty according to the Catholic Church.

From the moment of birth the Catholic baby is guilty of sin and should it die, it went straight to limbo as punishment. Sad to say, we believed.

Now in my seventh decade on this earth I must thank some god or other that my long-held conviction has been vindicated and validated, albeit at a horrible price paid by the thousands of abused children at the hands of Catholic clergy.
