Laying the blame
He ignores a number of fundamental issues. The reason the state is facing unprecedented fiscal challenges derives from the actions of the leaders of government, banks, builders and their media cheerleaders. It was the actions of these powerful people that brought the country to the verge of bankruptcy. Yet I do not see Mr McGrath accusing them of being a direct threat to the survival of the state. Nor do I see him calling for these powerful people to be held accountable – not to mention “facing the full rigours of the law”.
