It’s time the laity ‘took Catholicism back’

RECENT revelations of sexual abuse in the Dublin archdiocese are truly heart-rending.

But the challenge for the nation and its Catholic citizenry is not just to absorb this horror. It is a pretty sure bet that if inquiries are conducted in dioceses across the country, the same horror story would be forthcoming.

The priority now is for each Catholic to determine what, if anything, he or she feels can be done to end this tyranny of abuse, denial, obfuscation and betrayal.
