Last weekend Ireland’s wind farms produced 11 times the energy output of Ardnacrusha. For the first time, the amount of electricity generated through wind exceeded 1,000 megawatts, providing enough power to satisfy 650,000 homes, or one third of the electricity needs of the Republic.

This shows what might be achieved as technologies are perfected and as more wind farms are built.
