They must be absolutely certain of their facts and that all options have been explored. They must be certain that the children’s interests would be best served by such a drastic intervention.

A Scottish family of seven, including a newborn child, has been broken up because they are all grossly overweight. If we are not to face similar predicaments we must do more to change the lifestyles that lead to obesity. That might include banning a whole range of junk foods.
