Legacy of media attack on traditional family
My disagreement with him replicates my disagreement with the left-liberal constituency in general: its denial of objective evidence about the consequence of undermining traditional marriage as the basis for civil society.
Let them disagree that the capacity of a man and woman to generate children provides marriage with its specific definition, but how can they deny the destruction of society over, say, the past 40 years as a consequence of marriage’s overthrow?
I live in Limerick where 60% of children are born outside wedlock.
The only point I make about that here is that the steady rise to the present percentage has coincided exactly with the increasing scale of Limerick’s societal problems, including fatherlessness and welfare dependency.
Denial is at the heart of the kind of advocacy in Matt Cooper’s column ... denial that the mounting evidence here and abroad points to the restoration of the traditional family, which has been attacked by the media and the media-led state for the past 40 years at least.
