Rape crisis centres not surprised by findings

RAPE Crisis Midwest (formerly Limerick Rape Crisis Centre) welcomes the long-awaited publication of the report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse.

Like so many others we wish to express our profound sadness and disgust at the savage abuse heaped upon Irish children.

The litany of abuse makes for harrowing reading, though for anyone working in a rape crisis centres it contains no surprises.

For the past 30 years Rape Crisis Midwest has helped to pick up the pieces of lives ripped asunder by institutional abuse. We will continue to do so.
