THE appalling revelations about institutional child abuse and the way the state and children’s charities, as well as many religious institutions, were involved in splitting up families further highlights the need to strengthen parents’ rights to protect their children.

Parents first

The state must not be given even more power over children at the expense of their parents.

A “children’s rights” amendment to the constitution would take power from parents and give it to the state and state-approved bodies.
