Ryanair’s passenger numbers hit record heights

I WAS surprised to see your brief news item headlined ‘Ryanair traffic’ (May 12) which indicated record Ryanair passenger traffic of 3.44 million for April when in fact we carried more than 5.3 million passengers last month.

Ryanair’s passenger numbers hit record heights

On further reading it became apparent the item referred to our record growth of April 2006 when we experienced a massive 29% increase in our passenger numbers.

To avoid confusion, and to ensure readers are fully aware of our phenomenal growth, I wish to point out that Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharge helped the airline to grow to 4.1 million passengers in April ‘07, 4.7m in April ‘08 and 5.3m passengers in April this year – an average increase of 15% per annum over the past three years. Ryanair, a once small Irish airline, is now the world’s largest international scheduled airline and we will continue to increase passenger numbers as we continue to lower fares.
