O Cuiv’s outrageous misuse of public funds

THERE may be nothing wrong with putting resources into the Irish language – if there’s likely to be some benefit.

O Cuiv’s outrageous misuse of public funds

But for Eamon O Cuiv to take €770,000 of taxpayers’ money to promote the language outside of Ireland during the worst recession we have known is an outrageous misuse of badly-needed funding.

Minister O Cuiv probably thought he’d get away with it by announcing this bonanza for foreign educational institutions on a Sunday, but I can assure him that those of us who did notice will not forget yet another insensitive move by a Government that is hellbent on helping the bankers and property developers at the expense of the most vulnerable members of our society.
