Prankster pulls off a grand slam at the gallery

I WAS out of the jurisdiction for only two days, but thought I’d somehow managed to overstay for a few days as a result of unconsciousness or abduction by aliens because when I got back it was already April 1 in the National Gallery.

Was it a ruse to get more visitors to grace the hallowed chambers, whether or not the portrait was legally — or even “Offaly” — well hung?

Is it an inverse Fianna Fáil plot to muster some public support for their leader? This is one of the very rare times I have a modicum of sympathy for a Fianna Fáil politician, but it won’t change my preferences in the June elections. Sorry, Brian.

What with bank bonuses, HSE top salaries, unread critical reports, etc, can things get sillier here? The grand slam was a tough act to follow, but the prankster, even though he may have been offside, managed to upstage the lads. Touché.
