Flawed allowance

THE country has gone past breaking point, yet Beverley Flynn sees nothing wrong with being a selfish politician.

Why on earth should the taxpayer compensate her for the difficulties faced by independents in getting elected? She should have refused to accept the allowance of €41,000 as a goodwill gesture to the public, even if the flawed, self-serving McCreevy legislation allows her to claim it.
