Irish workers squeezed out for seeking fair pay

IT is common nowadays to hear remarks such as “Irish workers are lazy — they don’t want to do menial jobs like cleaning or stacking shelves in supermarkets”.

Irish workers squeezed out for seeking fair pay

Such remarks are used by unscrupulous employers and employment agencies to justify hiring disproportionate numbers of non-Irish people in the lower-paid workforce.

Irish workers are now being squeezed out of the workforce on a daily basis. One reasons is that they demand a decent wage and proper terms of employment.

While politicians preach multiculturalism, they ignore the growing resentment among ordinary citizens.

Given that nearly 15% of our population originated abroad, we should now have at least 20 of them as TDs.

The EU agenda of free movement of people, goods and services has led to massive migration from east European countries.

This movement of people has caused wage stagnation for the lower paid.

While the basic idea forged by lobby group BusinessEurope was to create a more buoyant and flexible EU economy, loyalty to country is to be replaced by loyalty to the free market.

The ideal EU citizen will have loyalty to no place and no one, destined to be a nomad, exploited for the profit of the few.
