RECENTLY I read about a new type of cement used in the reconstruction of the Lansdowne Road rugby grounds and the Point Depot in Dublin.

Concrete proposal

It is made mainly of granulated blast furnace slag. This is supposed to make product tougher and its Irish manufacturer has done a deal with Arcelor Mittal, the world’s biggest steel company, to use their waste slag. Any hope the company would take an interest in the Haulbowline waste problem?
