Even a top lawyer would find it confusing

Having received the statement for the information of voters which arrived with my polling card, I am at a loss to know how the Government seriously thinks that the voting public will endorse the Lisbon Treaty.

I found the 28th Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2008 impossible to comprehend not because I haven’t tried to inform myself as fully as I can on the treaty, but rather because much of the bill contains various amendments to various subsections, articles, protocols, etc, which are not set out or explained in it. I am sure that even a highly trained legal professional would find this document perplexing.

Charlie McCreevy recently stated that given its complexity, “no sane, sensible person” would read the treaty. I am of the view that no sane, sensible person should vote for it either.
