Voting no to Lisbon will result in reduced investment and further job losses

LIBERTAS has no proven track record of job creation in Ireland, yet it is calling for a no vote against the Lisbon treaty because it claims it will be bad for the development of the economy.

Voting no to Lisbon will result in reduced investment and further job losses

On the other hand the IDA, which has created 136,000 jobs in Ireland, IBEC, which represents 7,000 Irish businesses, and US multinational companies have all called for a ‘yes’ vote because they claim it is clearly in Ireland’s economic interest to support the treaty.

They also claim that levels of investment from the US will fall if we do not ratify the treaty and that we should remember there are many other European countries in competition with Ireland for investment. Are we really going to take the decision to move away from the EU and to put in place a more detached and isolated relationship with Europe?
