THE Taoiseach’s sudden departure will be seen by many as a de facto admission of guilt to the charges he answered so unsatisfactorily at the Mahon Tribunal.

And we have had to endure too much sanctimonious claptrap from his partners in government on his untimely departure and tribunal performances.

Many ordinary citizens are under investigation and face possible jail sentences if they do not give straight answers on revenue matters.

If the Taoiseach has “done no wrong and feels proud”, then why didn’t he stay at his post while facing the music in Dublin Castle?
