Ending life is hardly the sign of progress

RE SILVERA (Letters, February 25) claimed that Ireland’s legal status, when it comes to abortion, doesn’t match the record of a progressive European nation, and that abortion should be legalised in this country.

Ending life is hardly the sign of progress

I didn’t know that ending the life of an unborn baby was a way of measuring how much a society had progressed. One would think the opposite was true.

To end the life of an unborn child and call it progress is to my mind going against our consciences and what we know to be right.

Those who fail to protect the unborn now will some day be called to account unless we change our ways and do what is right.
