Abortion ban is the sign of an oppressive society

I HAVE been following the ongoing debate on abortion in your letters page.

It is uncanny to me that Ireland’s legal status, when it comes to terminations, doesn’t match the record of a progressive European nation, but rather those of conservative, oppressive societies.

Let us start with one truth the anti-choice side likes to forget: abortions happen in Ireland.
