Faith schools: the case in favour is proven

IT’S gratifying to learn that my letter (‘Hanafin should invest in faith schools only’, January 15) amused Michael Furey (Letters, January 24). Alas, the feeling isn’t mutual. I haven’t the slightest interest in providing evidence for the existence of a supernatural deity — to use Mr Furey’s quaint expression.

Faith schools: the case in favour is proven

It’s an interesting question (which I have resolved to my own intellectual satisfaction), but irrelevant to a discussion regarding the merits of school types.

For anyone with an open mind, it is clear that the evidence is in on this question. It’s interesting though to review the contribution of those most dogmatic in denying the existence of Mr Furey’s supernatural deity, particularly in the 20th century — gulags, death camps and killing fields.
