Standardise taxi cabs

THE new taxi regulations hopefully will ensure higher standards of cleanliness, comfort and safety of vehicles.

But they fail to establish uniformity of vehicles. A standard-type vehicle like London’s black taxis or New York’s yellow cabs should be a priority for safety and instant identity. The use of different types of vehicle makes it easy for criminals to get a plastic taxi sign and pose as legitimate taxi drivers.
