Story of women who made fish fit for menu

I AM engaged in research for a masters degree in local history in the University of Limerick on the work performed by women in the fish curing industry in south Kerry and west Cork from 1891 to 1930.

Story of women who made fish fit for menu

I am interested in identifying that sector of the female population who were not only engaged in ‘home duties’, but earned an (irregular) income from work performed gutting and cleaning fish caught during the period when fishing was undertaken mostly by seine boat crews in the region under study.

I would like to hear from anyone who had relatives or friends involved or who employed women in this work. No detail is insignificant, no experience unimportant.

I would appreciate information from all sources. I will respond to all letters received and guarantee confidentiality where necessary. I can be contacted at the addresses below
