Noisy turbines bring ill effects and sleepless nights

I TAKE exception to James McGrath’s dismissive remarks (Letters, October 8) regarding health problems caused by industrial wind turbines.

Noisy turbines bring ill effects and sleepless nights

While he lives 1km from one turbine, I live one mile away from a wind farm of 11 turbines which make my life hell. The constant noise keeps us awake at night and my health has deteriorated so much that I am now under medical observation.

I know the turbines are causing me to feel unwell because when I am abroad on holiday, I can sleep and my pains and ailments disappear.

Moving house is not an option because the turbines have devalued my property. In an effort to make our lives more bearable, we are spending thousands of euro on soundproofing our home.

Mr McGrath should consider himself very lucky he is not affected by one turbine (yet). We are in line for many more turbines in our area and five of them will be as near as 500 metres to our homes. The thought of what our lives are going to be like is very distressing. I wonder how Mr McGrath would feel in my situation.
